El Paso woman killed in car crash into back of stopped semitruck on I-10 freeway
An El Paso driver was killed early Sunday in a three-vehicle collision when her car crashed into a rear of a trailer stopped in the emergency lane of Interstate 10 in the far East Side, police said.
El Paso police said that speed, alcohol and an unsafe lane change are suspected of being factors in the freeway crash, which remains under investigation.

Sandy Almanza, 49, was driving a silver 2022 Honda Accord westbound on I-10 when the crash occurred at 1:20 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 4, near Don Haskins Drive, between Loop 375 and Zaragoza Road, police said.
A police news release stated that the Almanza was heading west at the same time as a white 2020 Chevrolet Malibu driven by Jorge Alexis Gamboa, 25, of El Paso. Both cars attempted to move into the same lane and collided, causing both of them to spin out of control.
The Accord then crashed into the back of a semitruck stopped on the right emergency lane of I-10 West. Almanza died at the scene.
The truck driver was identified by police as Mustapha Saddiqi, 43, of Forney, Texas, in the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex.
There have been 38 traffic-related deaths in El Paso this year compared with 47 at this time last year, according to Police Department numbers.
