Divers have begun setting up a balloon system to remove the helicopter wreckage that crashed into the Gökdere Bridge Dam in the Kozan district of ADANA 3 days ago.
The firefighting helicopter sent to respond to the forest fire that broke out in the Kızlarsekisi Neighborhood of the Kozan district on August 2 crashed for an unknown reason while taking water from the Gökdere Bridge Dam on the Göksu Stream. The 5-person crew in the helicopter swam out of the dam and were taken to shore by boats. The forest fire was extinguished a short time later with the efforts of other teams. The 5 people who were taken to the hospital by the health teams dispatched to the region were discharged after their treatment. Work has begun to remove the underwater wreckage.
WRECKAGE AT 38 METERS DEEP
The JAK and SAK teams and the underwater robot dispatched to the region from Ankara and Adana reached the wreckage of the ‘Mi-8’ type firefighting helicopter at a depth of 38 meters. It was planned to bring the helicopter wreckage to the surface with a balloon system after the water level in the dam was reduced by 10-15 meters and then lift it to land with a crane. Divers made plans on how the balloons would be connected to the helicopter. The teams started the installation work in line with the prepared plan. The work is expected to be completed in the coming days.
